“Pakistan-Africa Relations in the 21st Century”


Book chapters are being invited for a peer reviewed book to be published in 2021

Pakistan-Africa Relations in the 21st Century

The book will be a pioneer scholarly contribution to the study of Pak-Africa relations. The three salient point about the book is:

  • It aims at building a systemic, integrated and structural portrayal of different regions of the African continent through a detailed analysis of its politics and economics, trade and investment, culture and education, et al.
  • The book will give ideas, insights, historical facts, and the way forward to developing ties with the African continent.
  • The book will apprise the stakeholders of Pakistan’s foreign policy of the significance, potential and prospects of Pakistan’s relations with the Africa countries in diverse fields and levels such as, government-to-government, business-to-business and people-to-people.

Each chapter will focus on one of the geographical regions of Africa; North, South, Center, East and West. Specifically, each chapter will discuss the following:

  1. A brief political, economic and socio-cultural profile of the countries in a region coupled with an analysis on the future scenario and emerging issues in the region.
  2. The historical context of Pakistan’s relations with countries in the region.
  3. Pakistan’s political and economic interests with the prominent countries in a particular region and counter interests of major powers.
  4. The chapter will conclude with plausible avenues for cooperation and the way forward for Pakistan in building ties and relations with the African countries in the 21st century.
  5. An additional chapter will focus on the African Union, African Continental Free trade Agreement (AfCFTA) and other important multilateral and regional organization of the continent.

Submission Guidelines

  • Original and unpublished chapters are invited
  • Chapters should strictly follow the latest CMS style guidelines.
  • The proposals should contain an abstract within 300 words, a maximum of five keywords, and a brief bio note of the author within 150 words.
  • Last date of submission of abstracts is April 30, 2021 to be sent at kulsoom@ips.net.pk
  • Selected contributors will be notified by May 20, 2021.
  • The full chapter, expected by July 30, 2021, should be approximately 7000 words in length, including notes and bibliography.
  • Authors will be paid a respectable honorarium on the approval of the submitted chapters.
